CommunitySouthside Sport and Community Club is the heart of the community - entertaining, supporting and giving back to its members, guests and the local population. From youngsters involved in sporting activities which the club helps to fund, to aged pensioners getting together for a cup of tea, a chat and a game of bingo, this club cares about its community. A club is not like a regular pub or casino. All of the profits go back to support the community, and Southside Sport and Community Club has contributed more than $4.6 million to the local community through grants, sponsorships and donations since the Club opened its doors in September 1997. Community support is not just about donations and providing facilities. Your club makes a significant contribution to the community economy by directly providing jobs for 130 people and indirectly through purchasing food and beverage supplies, cleaning products, consumables, equipment etc. Jobs are also created through the services provided by contractors for things such as cleaning and maintenance, redevelopment and refurbishment programs etc. Contrary to popular belief, the Club also pays significant taxes to both the Federal and State Governments. Over all, Southside circulated over $16.5 million back into the community last financial year so when you hear those who want to control the entertainment of the 99.16% of the population who don't have a problem with gambling, consider the impact on your community if your club ceased to exist. We are focused on building a stronger community and are proud to share profits with organisations that make a real difference in people's lives. In June 2011 at our Queensland Day Dinner we distributed $402,899 to 39 charities and community organisations. The community focus of our club will ensure that this good work continues long into the future.
